Stirling Castle

The other weekend we took our first train trip out of Edinburgh to Stirling.  We passed beautiful countryside along the way with lost of sheep and cattle.  The train was comfortable and even Jim had enough leg room!  As we arrived in Stirling we walked up a large hill through the town and up to the castle.  Ella was wondering why all castles had to be built at the tops of the hills?!
Robert the Bruce (Robin's family line runs back to Robert the Bruce!)
From the top of the hill we could see the William Wallace Monument and the statue of Robert the Bruce (Much fighting and bloodshed went on between the Scots and the English over Stirling Castle and the entire region here!)
The Wallace Monument

The rest of the pictures show our time exploring Stirling Castle, it is a castle rich with living history!  And watch out for the steps along the castle walls - no railings!!!
