Edinburgh Castle

On Saturday we spent the day at the Edinburgh Castle. What an impressive sight, chock full of history, relics, museums, etc. It also provides an incredible view of the city below and wider landscape of nearby hills and mountains. I'll apologize up front to you history buffs. Because the story of this castle is so extensive and diverse, and the headphones that might have educated me (and you) weren't for reasons you might guess crowning my head on this particular family day, the substance of this post is mainly photographic. Hey it's a start. That's the great thing about living near a major European historic site - we don't need to exhaust every nook and cranny, or pool of information, during a "once in a lifetime" visit. The Edinburgh Castle is about a mile or so from our flat, so we'll go back, and therefore you'll go back! So those of you who love history and the actual significance of things (believe me I'm preaching to myself as well), be patient. Give your aesthetic and imaginative senses some reign, and enjoy these scenes as we did...

Just imagine...Lego Edinburgh Castle.

Will the real William Wallace please stand up?

Edinburgh Castle is indeed a beautiful and strong fortress. But you know, we were reminded this morning in family devotions that the Lord is our refuge and our strength, and his steadfast love is better than life- better than castles, better than Europe, better than cities, and better than PhDs. He is the refuge and all strength, because He is God. And He is love; he will never leave you, nor forsake you as you trust in his Son Jesus. May we all know the eternally safe and infinitely strong love of God in Christ, and by his Spirit, love Him supremely above all things.

  1. The "Lego Edinburgh Castle" comment with JT's face made me laugh out loud! It looks beautiful and I'm sure whenever we do get out there to visit you, I will be pulling Adam away by the boot straps -- he is our family's history buff! The architecture and views are beautiful. Thanks for keeping us updated on your adventures!
