A Wee Difference In The Vocabulary

Living in the city of Edinburgh has been a bit of an adjustment.  It took us a little while to get used to "city living".  For example we don't have a car, so we walk rain or shine.  The weather changes quite frequently so you always need to be prepared for the rain/sunshine/wind etc.  (JT thought it was really cool that his umbrella blew inside out two times on his walk to school the other morning.)  Walking everywhere has been quite fun and I don't really find myself missing a car at all.  The people are quite friendly and things move at a slower pace here and people really enjoy taking the time to talk/visit and have a cup of tea or coffee together.  Aside from the accent we have also had to get used to a new vocabulary.  Although they speak English, their spelling and vocabulary are a bit different.  The kids have helped me make up a small word list so when you come to visit you will know how to speak like a Scotsman!

  1. Lizzy! I love reading about your adventures! Great word list. Plaster is way better than band-aid.
